Matteo Grassi
In the 1880s, the Grassi family in the province of Brianza, Italy, began manufacturing leather products such as saddles, bridles and reins for horses. After the Second World War, the Grassis experienced a period of change due to the rapid industrialization of northern Italy and expanded their product range to include a variety of leather goods, especially furniture for the private and public sectors. By the end of the 1970s, Matteo Grassi had gained international recognition for his unique and highly crafted leather furniture, including chairs, sofas, tables and beds. One of the standout designs of this period was the Korium Armchair, designed by Tito Agnoli in 1979.
Over the years, Matteo Grassi has worked with an impressive selection of designers, including Carlo Bartoli, Piero Lissoni, Alessandro Mendini, Franco Poli, Eoos, Luigi Massoni, Jean Nouvel, Matteo Nunziati, Mauro Lipparini and Rodolfo Dordoni. The brand is known for its high-quality workmanship and elegant, sleek shapes and can be found in many airports and executive offices around the world.
